Description
The Palace was founded in 1886 at the behest of Abi Imrane Moussa Ben Ahmed Ben Mbarek, grand vizier to Sultans Sidi Muhammad Ben Abderrahmane (1859-1873) and Al Hassan I (1873-1894), and was later expanded by his son, "Ba-Hmad," who served as the chamberlain and grand vizier to Sultan Moulay Abdelaziz (1894-1908). The palace is an ensemble of architectural harmony, comprising a series of pavilions and annexes of varying sizes, interconnected by long, straight or labyrinthine corridors, either covered or open to the sky. It occupies a total area of eight hectares, with 37,100 m² of buildings and approximately five hectares of green spaces. The construction work spanned over several periods and involved the finest Moroccan artisans from Fez, Meknes, and Marrakech.
